Adopting A Pet Signifies More Than Just Taking It To Your Home - It's A Big Obligation! Are You Prepared?
Are you're responsible pet owner? The millions of us that own house-pets believe that we can honestly say yes to this query. However the majority of us do not support the compassionate society or the local animal shelter by adopting animals from the programs. This is the responsible thing to do as a pet owner.
I am not suggesting that every pet owner needs to go adopt a house-pet from the shelter, but a monetary donation is a great way to insure that these programs can keep going. Also if you're a pet owner that breeds your pet, make sure that the people that adopt a house-pet from you're going to be accountable & will provide a great home to the animal. For instance, if it has a problem like excessive barking, what's the plan? Behavior modification? An anti bark collar?
Now and again this could be hard. When our dog had pups we had to deny one couple from purchasing one of the puppies. We have Labrador Retrievers. This is a good example of a breed that may require an anti bark collar due to a barking training issue. They normally have very big litters. Our dog had twelve puppies that we needed to find homes for. My husband is a hunter and our dogs are whistle & hand trained, so there were a lot of hunters that had asked for a puppy prior to the litter arriving. However due to the fact that she had such a large litter we had two puppies that were not spoken for. We ran an advertisement in a weekly sportsmen's paper that we would take applications from individuals who wanted to adopt a housepet. We had developed a question-form that we used as an application. The question-form asks how many hours a day the animal would be by myself, how many hours the owner had to exercise the animal & how often they typically take their animals to the veterinarian.
Some people think that this is a weird form to write out, but we feel that we have an obligation to the breed to make sure that the people who are going to own the dogs are going to take good care of them. We check out every person that wants to adopt a pet from us. We wish to make certain that the animal is getting health-care, like you would seek should training tools like an anti bark collar not be effective, good food and exercise. We also want to make certain that the animal is neutered or spayed if the owner is not going to be accountable in investigating the breeding lines. The retriever breed is quite common so it's important to keep healthy blood lines for those of us that want pure-breeds. Due to the number of retrievers that are available some breeders are attempting to breed specialized lines with regards to color or skills, such as pointing. This can cause bloodlines that are too close which results in dogs that have high medical needs. Our technique of asking questions to the individuals that want to adopt a house-pet from us is not gonna make a huge difference, but at least we feel we're not adding to the problem of weakening the breed.

If You're Having Issues With Your Canine Always Barking, An Anti Barking Collar May Be The Solution My dog used to keep me up all night. To begin with, I had thought that it would be a good idea to get a canine which was active enough to make a good watchdog.
