A Pasta Maker Machine - An Easy Way To Create Fresh Pasta
Creating your own pasta is not as challenging as you perhaps think, and the end result is simply delicious, nothing like the stuff you probably purchase in the local shop. While it is viable to produce pasta without a pasta maker machine, it's rather hard work and the results, unless of course you're an expert, may well not be very good. Pasta makers come in two standard forms - manual and electric powered, both types do essentially perform the same function, but an electric unit is a lot quicker and easier to work with and may have added functions.
A classic pasta recipe consists of nothing more than these simple ingredients: egg, flour, olive oil, salt and some water. These constituents are mixed together, using a food processor, or simply by hand, up to the point the desired consistency is achieved - if it gets too tacky then you add a bit more flour; if it's too dry then you should put in a drop more water. Then, after letting the dough rest for a few minutes, you will need to knead the dough for about 5 to 10 minutes. Now's the time to prepare your pasta maker machine. Whichever type of pasta maker you decide upon, the process is approximately the same.
You adjust the pasta maker machine to the thickest setting and roll out the pasta by moving it through the device 3 or 4 times - if you own a manual model then you have to turn the handle to achieve this; an automatic electric device will will do it for you. Then you alter the machine again, choosing the next lowest thickness option, and pass the dough through a few times more. The process is duplicated until you have a long sheet of smooth pasta. This is then cut to the correct length. Then the second feature of the pasta maker machine comes into play. All units include a cutting function to slice the pasta sheet into strips. Just choose the width you'd like and run the dough through the pasta cutter. That's all you need to do! Just leave the pasta for an hour or so to dry - a pasta drying rack may assist with this part - and your fresh pasta is ready to cook.
